DON'T LOVE YOU BUT WANT TO é um álbum da artista travesti Darlene. É seu segundo projeto musical pela Municipal K7, depois de 'Nascido em Swampland' (2021) sob o nome de Crocodilo Slam.

Natural de Rio Verde, em Goiás, a artista de 25 anos mora atualmente em São Paulo, onde encontrou um lugar mais seguro para transicionar e criar arte no seu próprio ritmo. Darlene diz: "Ser travesti é como ser anfíbia, pra mim. A maneira como percebo a separação entre meu corpo e meu habitat é delicada. Quando estou fora de casa, temo e espero violência na mesma medida, mas também vivencio todo o resto que é bom e amável. Navego como uma criatura mutante e esquisita. Logo meus sentidos se cansam e volto pro meu quarto, que é onde a música vai tomando sua forma. ‘DON’T LOVE YOU BUT WANT TO' é a minha expedição hiperromântica através da memória coletiva de criaturas nunca antes vistas. Uma expedição que nos puxa para o fundo de um oceano, onde a gênese do ser nunca termina, e a geologia viva é inseparável dos corpos transmutantes, de natureza anfíbia, pulmões que viram guelras, e guelras que viram do avesso."

DON’T LOVE YOU BUT WANT TO is the latest album from brazilian travesti artist Darlene, and her second music project in collaboration with Municipal K7 label, her debut being ‘Nascido em Swampland’ (2021), under the name Crocodilo Slam.

Originally from Rio Verde - Goiás (a state located in the center-west region of Brazil), the 25 years old artist currently lives in São Paulo, where she found a safer place to transition and create art at her own rhythm. From Darlene: “To be travesti is to be somewhat amphibious, for me. The way I feel separation between my body and my habitat is a delicate thing. When outside, I both fear and expect violence, but also get to experience everything else that is good and lovable. I navigate like a weird, mutant creature. Soon I tire my senses, so I go back to my bedroom, and thats where the music take its form. 'DON’T LOVE YOU BUT WANT TO' is my own hyperromantic expedition through the collective memories of unforeseen creatures. An expedition that pulls us to the bottom of the ocean, where the continuous genesis of the self never ceases, and the always changing geology is indiscernible from the transmuting bodies of amphibious nature, lungs turned into gills, gills turned inside out."

I have been shouting this from the top of my roof for so long so I better say it here too: Babe, Terror would have a Burialesque reputation if he was born in Western Europe or America. It's an absolute travesty that major music publications wouldn't put any light on this truly groundbreaking music. It is complex beyond anything I have ever heard. If you haven't come across his music before you need to dig into his discography, now! Harsh Agarwal
